A Letter to Younger Self

Dear Younger Self,
Have you ever wondered what you’d say to your younger self if you had the chance?

Today, I’m writing this letter to express my love for you and apologize for the pressure I placed on you and for making you carry burdens you never deserved. At the same time, I want to celebrate the incredible person you were.
You were disciplined, loving, cheerful, and optimistic. You faced a world that judged you at every turn, yet you navigated it gracefully and kindly. Your heart remained open, even when closing it off was easier.
To anyone reading this, take a moment to reflect. We’ve all felt the sting of judgment at some point in our lives, haven’t we? Think about it: if you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Looking back, I’ve learned a truth that has changed everything: life always works out. But here’s the catch—it rarely unfolds the way you expect. Life doesn’t always give you what you want; it gives you what you need. Sometimes, it’s even better, but you can only see it if you’re open to twists and turns. Even the smallest doors can lead to the grandest opportunities.
Do you remember the time you took a career gap during COVID? It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was necessary for your mental health. Others judged you for it, and when you applied for higher studies, some doubted your chances of success because of that gap. But you rose above their skepticism and persevered. Against all odds, you earned your place at one of the most prestigious universities in the U.S.
There were moments when you felt lost and unsure of your path. You questioned your abilities and doubted your dreams. But you didn’t give up. You kept going, one step at a time. That resilience has shaped the person you are today. I'm so proud of your courage and determination—it’s a testament to the strength you’ve always carried within.
Thank you, younger self, for daring to dream bigger, being ambitious, and refusing to be confined by others' expectations. You always dreamed fearlessly, even when those dreams seemed delusional to others. Your boldness to believe in yourself paved the way for the life I’m living now.
If I could share one piece of advice with you, it would be this: Be ambitious. Dream big, but don’t be afraid of failure. Keep your heart open to life’s detours because they might lead you to the most extraordinary destinations. Start now; don’t wait for “someday” to do what you love. If you stumble, it’s okay. Take a moment to rest and reset. Then, when you’re ready, dive back in with all your heart. Reset as many times as you need because every attempt brings you closer to your purpose.
Enjoy life along the way. Treat yourself to that dessert, savor that cheese pizza, or go for a walk or run to clear your mind. These small moments of joy will help you stay grounded and remind you why the journey matters.
Treat yourself with kindness. Celebrate the little wins. And trust that even when the road feels uncertain, it’s leading you to something beautiful.
Remember this: the journey is the destination. Embrace it. Enjoy it. Live it fully, and never stop believing in your ability to create the life you’ve always dreamed of.
With love and gratitude,
Your Older Self
