We often talk about self-love and hear others speak about it. But what exactly is self-love?

Have you ever truly thought about it? Are you one of those lucky ones who always love themselves? Or are you like me, someone who sometimes needs that reassurance, that gentle reminder that, yes, you are doing great?

Is self-love just about embracing our flaws and celebrating our strengths? Is it also about allowing ourselves to grow without judgment? Does it mean being kind to ourselves when we fail, just as we are to a struggling friend?

And what about when we reassure others, reminding them that they matter and that they are amazing? Can that, too, be considered an act of self-love?

When we lift others up, don’t we also create a space where love, kindness, and acceptance flow back to us?

But even if it doesn’t, even if the love we give never returns, does that make it any less valuable?

Can we, just for once, be selfless — offering kindness without expectation, knowing that in a world that often forgets to be gentle, being the one who chooses love is enough?

Maybe self-love isn’t just about how we treat ourselves but also about the love we give freely, without conditions, simply because we believe the world could always use more of it.
